What does a Switch Operator earn?
On average, switch operators in the U.S. earn around $63,050 a year. Switch operators are responsible for operating a switchboard to route incoming and outgoing calls, often in call centres. Switch operators also may provide customer service, track call logs and assist customers with any inquiries. Some switch operators may be trained to use specialised switchboards, including computerised system consoles.
How to earn more as a Switch Operator
"If you want to become a switch operator, you need to have a good understanding of computers and telecommunications systems. You can get this knowledge through courses in computer science, IT, and telecommunications engineering. If you want to make more money as a switch operator, you can move into a more specialised field, such as radio transmission engineering or even micro-processing. Alternatively, you can develop your own business in telecommunications or start freelancing."
