What does a Hydrologic Technician earn?
On average, hydrologic technicians earn around $61,500 per year in the U.S.. Hydrologic technicians work in laboratories and other settings, collecting and analysing water samples to monitor changes in water quality, assess pollution levels, and predict the effects of weather and climate on water supplies. They use a variety of methods to measure water samples, from sophisticated instruments to low-tech manual surveys. A technician can choose to specialise in a particular area such as groundwater, oceanography, or meteorology.
How to earn more as a Hydrologic Technician
"To become a Hydrologic Technician, you will need a degree in hydrology, geoscience, or related field. Alternatively, you may seek out an on-the-job training program to gain experience. To enhance your career prospects, you can choose to specialize in a field, such as environmental consulting or hydrologic research. You can also choose to become self-employed or start your own hydrology consultancy."
