The Top Resume Builders

There are many resume builders accessible on the internet. Some are legitimate and packed with fantastic features, whereas others are lackluster and fail to deliver the results they promise.

So, which are the top resume builders?

We look at the top 10 resume builders with a mix of paid and free services.

1. Zety

Zety resume builder has a library of more than twenty templates categorized as ‘professional,’ ‘creative,’ ‘simple,’ and ‘modern.’ The ‘simple’ resume template is a good option because it is ATS-friendly (Applicant Tracking System), so your resume won’t get overlooked if a recruiter uses resume scanning software.

The Zety resume builder is a paid tool accessible on a subscription basis. Once you have created your resume, you will need to subscribe to download it ($5.95 per month/$2.70 two-week trial).

2. Resume.io

The Resume.io resume builder is user-friendly and quick to use. The templates have various features that you can turn on and off, such as a reference section or skills rating bars. You can include photos, your full address, and decorative elements. However, these significantly reduce the amount of compelling information you can fit on a one-page resume, so simple may be best.

Resume.io allows you to download one resume for free (with no design or formatting). PDF and .doc resumes are available on subscription ($44.95 for six months/$2.95 7-day trial).

3. ResumeHelp

If you prefer a guided process, ResumeHelp could be the resume builder for you. You progress by adding your information as requested, and the wizard creates your resume with a choice of more than twenty templates. A variety of pre-written content can be selected for an ultra-quick experience.

ResumeHelp offers a $2.90 14-day trial, followed by full access at $7.90 per month, billed annually.

4. Wozber

Wozber is a free cover letter and resume builder with a consistent design implemented across both, helping you stand out from other candidates. The resume builder does not include pre-written content. However, a fantastic feature called Relevance Meter shows a score of how closely your resume matches the job advert/description.

5. ResumeNerd

ResumeNerd takes you through the resume-building process one section at a time. Thousands of job-matched pre-written content examples are available for insertion, along with tips for writing each section.

ResumeNerd costs $2.75 per month or $39.75 for a year’s access.

6. VisualCV

VisualCV is another free resume builder, although you only have access to a single resume. If you intend to create a personalized resume for each job application, you will need the premium resume builder with unlimited template access ($12 per month). You can use a pre-made resume example and edits are straightforward with a user-friendly interface.

7. Resume Genius

Resume Genius has 17 templates, and you can select one based on your intention, such as career change, goals-based, or background-based. Many templates are ATS-friendly, but those with plenty of graphics and icons are less so.

You will pay $1.95 to download your resume, and after a trial period, the resume builder service costs $95.40 yearly.

8. Kickresume

Kickresume is superb for teachers and students, with Premium access free for six months. Three free resume templates accompany 34 Premium templates that you can access for $19 per month or $96 annually. Furthermore, you can use pre-written phrases and use a proofreading and grammar correction service.

9. myPerfectresume.com

myPerfectresume.com recommends a template based on how many years of experience you have. The templates are organized into groups such as ‘creative,’ ‘modern,’ and ‘traditional.’ If you have an existing PDF resume, you can import this and get to work updating and transforming it.

Access is subscription-based ($5.95 for three months/$71.40 yearly).

10. Canva

Canva is free and our wildcard because it is less a resume builder and more of a design tool. All resume-related features are free, and there are many templates with near-unlimited customization. You do miss out on features such as proofreading and pre-written phrases, but it is worth investigating further if you need a creative resume.
