What does a Judge earn?
Judges are responsible for ruling on matters of equity and conducting trials in a court of law. On average, judges can make upwards of $139,000 per year in the U.S.. After years of practise in the field, they can become part of a tribunal and make decisions that impact on people's lives. In civil law courts, a judge is able to provide decisions in cases involving reparations, divorce and awarding of damages. In criminal courts, the ultimate decision is down to the judge to determine a sentence for those who have been found guilty of a crime.
How to earn more as a Judge
To become a Judge, you will need to first complete an undergraduate law degree at university. Afterwards, you must complete the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) or the Legal Practice Course (LPC) depending on your particular route. To earn more as a Judge, you could move into specialised areas such as civil or criminal law and eventually preside over higher profile cases. You can also become a lecturer in law or set up your own firm.
